Two weeks ago, an important event took place in European Christian life.  The opening of the monastery of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin in the German city of Klausen.

The building of the monastery and the church adjacent to it built on the site of the appearance of the Holy Mother of God.

There used to be a Catholic monastery, then the building belonged to other owners. And now, thanks to a chain of unusual circumstances that cannot be called otherwise than miraculous, the monastery has passed into the possession of the Orthodox Church.

This took place with the direct participation of the historian and theologian, priest Timothy Kitnis.

He is also the director of the pilgrimage center and rector of the parish of St. Athanasius the Great in Trier.

We invited Father Timothy to visit and he told us about the history of the monastery.

We talked also about what the will of God is and how it manifests itself. And why people go to a monastery, why huge cathedrals were built in the Middle Ages and much, much more.
